doctormatt's corpse contributions

On this page are my contributions to the exquisite corpses at the most excellent le cadavre/exquise/boira/le vin/nouveau.

That site is now not running (no more new corpses that is), but Shae has started a new site for more corpsing. I should start having corpses there, too.

The most recent corpses are at the top, and favorites are marked by "**".

** 0539(2) Sep 22 2006

One of my very favorite ones.

0502(3) Sep 6 2006

I don't think I was too inspired on this one. I like how Santa's pipe/hand merged into a woman's head.

0501(2) Aug 14 2006

I went really messy with this one. I like that I used a golf ball for a head/hat.

** 0484(4) Jun 24 2006

This one looks great. I couldn't figure out how to extend the strip on the left, since the details were just so messy, so I put in the frame right at the top, and "continued" the gingham below. Fortunately, the frames were a significant part of the corpse, so it all looks good.

0424(4) May 13 2006

Some of my crudest work, but the corpse is nice.

0414(4) Apr 27 2006

I like this corpse a lot.

0407(1) Apr 21 2006

I like the way this came out. Nice corpse.

0392(1) Apr 02 2006

I couldn't really get this to look the way I envisioned. A very eclectic looking corpse.

0367(2) Mar 26 2006

I like the results of trying to match up the wrappers in this.

0339(3) Feb 20 2006

The strip didn't give me much to go on, and I was short on ideas. Blegh.

0321(4) Jan 3 2006

A rather silly looking corpse, I think.

0305(1) Feb 11 2006

I wasn't overly happy with my contribution, so it's probably best that it wasn't followed up on...

0302(4) Dec 15 2005

Meh. I got a strip of muck, so there wasn't much I could do. After extending it, the green in it reminded me of an old image I'd made with POVray with green bumps, so I incorporated that.

** 0288(4) Nov 22 2005

This came out great. I used three different Durer works for my section. The strip I got was all black except for a chunk of white stuff on the left and some white blocks on the right. The left chunk had a black line of pixels on the bottom row, so it had a built in seam. I managed to make up for it by adding black lines through Durer's Man of Sorrows. This was actually one of my faster corpses.

0244(4) Nov 2 2005

I got a mostly white strip with some green stuff on the left and a built in seam on the right. I decided to just be as abstract as possible. I used a slow shutter nighttime photograph for part of it (that yellow stuff).

0205(3) Oct 4 2005

I really didn't feel too good about my section, but the corpse in toto looks good. My strip was just a bunch of fuzzy color patches, no shapes or lines. I did the usual "extend the strip" thing, and then wrapped the result around POV-Ray cyclinders.

** 0216(3) Sep 28 2005

One of my favorites so far, and my most complicated piece to date. A picture of Lilian Gish, a couple old bicycle photos, combined with what I thought was a picture frame

0191(4) Sep 25 2005

Another POV-Ray one. Umbrellas above a purple speckled planet. I made the umbrellas using corpses of other people, but nobody seems to have noticed...

0197(4) Sep 2 2005

One of my least favorite. The strip I was given had a built-in seem, so there was nothing I could do to make it continuous. I guessed at a "hoof" theme, but guessed wrong. Got a little practice at making "drop shadows".

0188(3) Aug 22 2005

I like this one. The collage method looks good here, I think. Nice smooth, interesting transitions.

0167(3) Aug 15 2005

I didn't have a lot of ideas for this one. I used a level curves graphics that I made a long time ago to filter the strips to get that "ribbon candy" look.

166(3) July 25 2005

After extending the black section, all I could think of was blackboard.

158(4) July 29 2005

A messy corpse overall, and my strip certainly was. Used POV-Ray to make the bird sphere.

** 134(1) June 29 2005

I like the idea of abstract corpses, so my top piece here is just that. Made using a photograph of a gone-to-seed dandelion projected on some grey blobs which cast shadows below them. Nice smooth transition by Mofy to the second piece.

112(3) June 16 2005

I was banking on the bricky stuff being a giraffe. Since it wasn't it came out pretty well. I had meant the black giraffes to continue smoothly to the left - I don't know what happened.

94(3) May 20 2005

Uggh. I had no ideas on this one. Abstract, but not very appealing. I guess it at least made a decent connection between sections 2 and 4.

Old edition of the corpse site (before the CMS (Corpse Management System)), before the long hiatus:

119(2) Jun 2 2002

This one was a very messy strip, and my GIMP skills were primitive, so I continued the strip in a fairly obvious way, and put the resulting image over women-with-bicycle photos.

82(2) Apr 29 2002

I like this one. I really practiced my Photoshop skills here, getting my brother Chris' missing head to meld with that thing in the first panel.

85(1) Mar 15 2002

One of my very favorite contributions. Done with POV-Ray, a photo of Buster Keaton, and words from a sign indicating how to use the photocopier in our department.

45(1) Dec 17 2001

A POV-Ray created starter piece. Pretty nice overall.

48(2) Dec 21 2001

A bit of automated strip extension here, using a METAL basic program, showing a bicycle underneath. The whole corpse doesn't flow very well, but each part looks nice.
