A pencil sketch of Senator William Stone (1848-1918), from a photograph at the LOC.
More pencil work, of photographs from the Library of Congress.
William Whittemore (a rather cartoonish warmup)
Florence Macbeth (as often happens with me, the eyes are overworked and too dark, but I like the way the nose looks, even if the whole face is a bit skewed)
Back on that pencil horse. Two drawings of men who died young in 1916 from photographs from the Library of Congress.
Early race car driver Bob Burman
Aeronautical pioneer Marcel Brindejonc des Moulinais
A pencil sketch of big time lawyer W. Morgan Shuster (1877-1960). From a LOC photograph.
A pencil sketch of Infanta Beatriz of Spain, from a LOC photograph.
Strangely, I added at least ten years to her age: she's a young child in the photo, but my sketch makes her look at least a teenager. Odd.
More sketching practice. This is Mamie La Barge, from another Lewis Hine photograph in the Library of Congress collection.
A pencil sketch of Joyce Yuki Nakamura, from a beautiful Ansel Adams photograph, taken at the Manzanar Relocation Center, California, 1943.
