Animated stereographs
The Library of Congress has many stereograph images. They can be made into animation by overlaying the separate images, creating a two-frame animated GIF which illustrates the 3D effect one might have view the stereographs with a proper viewer.
Many of the images at the LOC are imperfect, with distortions caused by warping of the stereograph, along with other problems. I think this can add to the charm of the animations.
